Goebel Funeral Home: Family business that continues to serve with care and compassion
Apr 16, 2018Goebel of Chillicothe purchased the funeral home on Buckeye St. in Crooksville that was known as Fred L. Cannon and Sons.This funeral home was originally known as Cannon and Cannon, but due to a division in the Cannon family, it became Fred L. Cannon sometime in the late 1950’s.Upon purchasing the business, Pat changed the name to Goebel Funeral Home and later amended that name adding ‘& Cremation Services’ in keeping with the increase in frequency of families choosing cremation.Pat immediately became an integral member of the Crooksville and Roseville communities, serving families with integrity, compassion, honesty and sincerity. He was a master of his trade as a funeral director and embalmer, paying meticulous attention to every detail of each family’s funeralization and memorialization of their deceased loved one. In 1982, he married Dorothy I. (Harbaugh) who is also a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Together they continued to expand and improve the services they offered to keep current with the ever-changing trends.Over the years, more than 60 local people have been employed by Goebel Funeral Home and some have even sought careers in funeral service. The funeral home has always been a huge supporter of any local events and groups for children or adults, such as sponsoring many sports teams, donating to all area churches and other activities to help improve and support our communities and the entire county.The incredible services and work done by the founder is still being carried out by his wife, Dorothy and her staff. The funeral home has added another licensed funeral director and embalmer, Kyle Eveland, a Crooksville native who graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in December 2016.
